   PULSE TYPE — THE ONE FILE (Lane 2, 2026-09-28).

   Both surfaces read their typefaces from here and nowhere else:
     · the APP — app/globals.css imports this file, so it is bundled into the app's CSS (no extra
                   request) and `--font-display` / `--font-body` / `--font-ui` resolve through the
                   three `--brand-font-*` tokens below;
     · the SITE — the static pages in public/marketing link /brand/type.css and point their own
                   `--serif-display` / `--serif-body` / `--sans` at the same three tokens.

   TODAY THE TWO SURFACES DIFFER, AND THIS FILE SAYS SO RATHER THAN HIDING IT. Measured 2026-09-28:
     · app  — Fraunces (display) + Inter (body and UI), loaded by next/font in app/layout.tsx;
     · site — Libre Baskerville (display) + Alice (body) + Source Sans 3 (UI), self-hosted under
              /fonts.
   Nothing about either changes tonight: the values below reproduce exactly what each surface
   rendered before this file existed. The typography ruling (09:00, Mon Sep 28) is between
   "Fraunces with Inter" and "Iowan Old Style".

   ── HOW THE RULING LANDS: EDIT THIS FILE ONLY ───────────────────────────────────────────────────
   · FRAUNCES + INTER everywhere → set the three `:root` tokens to the Fraunces/Inter stacks written
     in the APP block, and delete the APP block. The @font-face rules below already self-host the
     latin cuts under /brand/fonts, so the static site needs no further file.
   · IOWAN OLD STYLE everywhere → set `--brand-font-display` and `--brand-font-body` (and, if the
     ruling says so, `--brand-font-ui`) in BOTH blocks to
         'Iowan Old Style', 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, 'Book Antiqua', Georgia, serif
     Iowan is a system face on Apple devices and is NOT licensed for web embedding, so it is named,
     never downloaded; the stack falls back to Palatino / Georgia elsewhere.
   The next/font registration in app/layout.tsx can stay either way: it only defines
   `--font-fraunces` / `--font-inter`, and a variable nobody reads costs nothing to render.
